The site is live. Now what? The first 30 days

· 2 min read

A site does not bring customers by itself. What to do in the first month after launch — most of it free.

Launching the site is not the finish line; the real work starts there. Google needs time to get to know a new site, and nobody learns your address on their own. Here is the first month.

Week 1: become findable

  • Register with Google Search Console. It is free. Add your site and submit your sitemap. This is where you see which searches you appear in.
  • Add the address to your Google Business Profile.
  • Put it in your social media bios.
  • Add it to your WhatsApp business profile.
  • Put it in your email signature. Twenty emails a day is 400 impressions a month.

Week 2: tell your existing customers

Before chasing new customers, tell the ones you have. Send a short message: our site is live, you can see our services and prices here.

This is the fastest-acting step and it costs nothing. Your first reviews and first traffic come from here.

Week 3: collect reviews

The ranking difference between 5 reviews and 40 is large. Ask satisfied customers. The most effective method is a short message containing the direct review link, sent immediately after the job.

Week 4: add your first content

The two most-read sections of your site will be your FAQ and your past work.

  • Add the ten questions you answer most often, with their answers.
  • Add your last five or six jobs with a photo and a short description.

Together they convince customers and explain to search engines what you actually do.

When to start advertising

After all of the above. Advertising a business whose site is not ready is carrying water in a leaking bucket: clicks arrive, nobody calls. Get the site and profile working first, then advertise.

Start with a small budget and a single service. Do not increase the budget until you can see which search produces phone calls.

What to measure

For the first month, one question is enough: how many people called or filled in the form? Visitor counts are interesting but they do not pay invoices. Ask every caller where they found you, and after a month you will know which channel works.
